The Old Course St Andrews Scotland – Here Are 5 Ways to Secure a Tee Time on St Andrews Old Course

The 5 ways to obtain a tee time are

  • Advance Reservations
  • The Ballot
  • Single Golfer
  • Old Course Experience
  • Golf Tour Operator

1. Advance Reservations

The Advance Reservation Process is being changed for the 2015 season to bring it in line with the Old Course Ballot where there is a draw to determine who has been successful.

Advance Reservations will be accepted from 1000 BST on Wednesday 27th August for a 20 day window until 1400 BST on Monday 15th September. A ballot will be drawn to determine tee time allocations.

The thinking behind the change is to take the pressure off of having to apply immediately after 1400 BST as tee times will now be allocated on a random basis rather than first come first served.

To submit an application go to the Ballot page on the St Andrews Links website, which will be available by 27th August. The website provides useful information and guidelines for completing the form.

2. Daily Ballot

After the Advance Reservations have been allocated, almost 50% of the remaining St Andrews Old Course Tee Times are allocated to the Daily Ballot.

This allows golfers who were unable to secure St Andrews Old Course tee times through advance reservations, a chance to play the Old Course.

The Daily Ballot draw takes place 48 hours in advance of the date of play and applicants must provide their names, home club and handicap details, either by telephone, at the starters box at the Old Course St Andrews or at one of the Clubhouses prior to 2pm.

Important points to remember if you are entering the Ballot

  • There must be at least 2 players, single players cannot enter the Ballot
  • Names, home club and handicaps are required
  • Maximum handicaps are 24 for men and 36 for women
