In Orange County, Sheriff John Mina advised WFTV’s Christian Bruey that his office has not received any new calls of anti-Asian detest crimes.

But that’s not stopping Mina from using a proactive stance.

His office a short while ago arranged the Asian American and Pacific Islander Liaison software.

“The advantage of obtaining these liaisons is … somebody who, you know understands my tradition, a person who speaks my language and then I can report this to them,” Mina explained.

The current method incorporates 9 associates of the Sheriff’s Workplace, many of whom speak distinctive languages or dialects.

The new team has previously participated in a couple Asian-themed community activities.
