Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
Last month the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorised contributing $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette toward the buy of a new 24 ft research and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be equipped to use the airboat. On the other hand, at yesterday’s County Board conference a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Town of Marinette for purchase of the Airboat. Considering the fact that the City of Marinette has just lately allocated $500 for every personnel for COVID-19 vaccinations using ARPA funds when they could have utilised their ARPA money in the direction of the funding of the airboat instead of asking the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre suggests, “the City of Marinette got $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller says, “there is a explanation why the town is wanting for participation in the purchasing of the airboat.”
Following a prolonged discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The anticipated delivery date of the airboat is mid-January.
